
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born July 9, 1956 is an American actor. Known for both his dramatic and comedic roles, he's one of the most loved and well-known film actors worldwide and is considered an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the son of Janet Marylyn, a hospital employee, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother was named "Fraga" and his father was English. Tom was raised in the family he refers to as "fractured". He didn't have any acting experience prior to college. This is what helped him start his career. He was a part of the auditions in downtown Cleveland for a community theatre play. Following that it was announced that he would be invited to Cleveland by the director. This was the point the point where his acting career started.
